Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Myitkyina, Inndawgyi sightseeing (-, -, -)

InndawgyiThis morning, transfer to Yangon Airport for a flight to Myitkyina. Upon your arrival in Myitkyina, the driver and the car will wait you and transfer to Inndawgyi. You will have about 5 hours drive to Inndawgyi and have a lunch break (Your own account ) on the way.

Day 02: Shwe Taung Trek (B, L, -)

Shwe Myint Zu PagodaThe tour starts from Lonton at 8 in the morning by boat and leads to the Northern peak of Inndawgyi Lake. After an hour we arrive at the surroundings of Shwe Taung where we start our trek to the top of Shwe Taung to visit a monastery and pagoda. On top we take a short break to enjoy the view before we start the trek through the surrounding forest. On the way to Ton San Kha village we will try to hear and see Eastern Hoolock Gibbons and various forest birds.

After around 2 hours we will reach Ton San Kha, a small farmer village that refuses to use any chemical fertilizers on their fields, to have a longer lunch break. Lunch is served at a local house by the local ecotourism group and is exclusively cooked with organic ingredients from the village's own fields. After lunch we will walk back to the boat following the wetland Indaw Chaung for about 1 hour. On the boat ride back we can have a stop at incredible Shwe Myitzu Pagoda before returning to Lonton around 4pm.

Day 03: Kayaking (B, L,- )

kayakingThe kayak trip starts at the small jetty in Lonton and first follows the shore south to the village of Mamon Kaing where the kayaks can be dropped at the shore site to discover the fisher men village. Afterwards you keep following the shore until you reach Hepa, motivated guests can also continue to Hepu. Always have a look into the wetlands along the shore site as various birds can be spotted and the kayak gives you the chance to observe them a bit longer. It is recommendable to have a longer break in Hepa or Hepu during noon to avoid the heat. Even though there are no restaurants in the villages small noddle and tea shops can be found.

In the afternoon you can cross Inndawgyi Lake back to Lonton which is about 7.5km distance and takes 2 hours. Around 3 pm the shrimp fisher will start to drop the locally produced traps giving you the chance to see their work from a nearby distance. Finish the day with a unique sunset view from the lake before dropping the kayaks in Lonton.

Day 04: Biking to Shan Village (B,L, - )

Myint ZuDiscover the villages along the Western bank of Inndawgyi Lake by bicycle starting with Shwe Myitzu Pagoda where a boat can bring you from the shore to the pagoda. Depending on the water level it is also possible to walk to the pagoda on a concrete path. Continue further North to Lwemun to visit the historic foot prints which are an important part of the Inndawgyi Lake legend.

The 3 Masters & 4 Lords Nat Shrine is located on a small hill opposite the foot print offering a nice view over the lake. In Nammilaung you can visit the Cane Buddha which was only build in 2009 but already is and important site for pilgrimage. Keep on following the main road to the north to arrive in Nyaung bin, the second largest village of Innndawgyi Lake to stop for lunch and experience the daily life of the local residents. On the way back have another stop in Lwemun to enjoy a fresh coconut with a stunning view over the lake before returning to Lonton before dawn.

Day 05: Trekking (B, L, - )

InndawgyiDiscover the incredible biodiversity of Inndawgyi Lake by trekking around Elephant Mountain at the Southern part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The trek will be specifically tailored in accordance to your wishes. Points of interest are waterfalls, hot springs, primary forest & mountain top monasteries.

The tour will usually start around Namun, the largest village of Inndawgyi Lake and can last up to 6 hours of trekking. It is possible to have a stop in Namun where Shanni and Kachin live together and thus the cultural diversity can also be experienced.

Day 06: Departure (B, -, -)

After breakfast this morning transfer to the airport for the flight to Yangon.
